My mother was visiting recently and all through our mother-daughter shopping time I noticed something interesting. The majority of the merchants I made a purchase at asked me if I had like to get on the mailing list. That is very smart.

But, the-way in which they did this made an impact in my own answer. I said NO to the vast majority of them because they only did not allow it to be alluring for me. I am talking about, who WOULD LIKE more spam? So if you merely ask me if I had want to be in your email list, the answer will often be NO.

But one store particularly got me. First of all, it had been a designer apparel store I loved. Second, they did not ask me if I wished to be on their mailing list. They invited me to become a 'VIP Client.'

Say what 'VIP' to me and my ears improve. It naturally represents 'very important person.' And generally it indicates an amount of benefit and reputation. Suddenly I NEEDED to be on that email list, especially when the salesman told me it was included with specific benefits, including early notice on personal trunk shows, a personal shopping service, and new arrivals.

And guess what happens? I would have even paid-to participate that - to be viewed as a VIP.

But do not underestimate how much your clients or customers will PROBABLY PAY to achieve that, either.

Example: A buddy of mine recently provided he gives $15,000.00 a-year to belong to the President's Club of a local playhouse, although he and his wife can attend each show there just for $150.00. Why would a loyal attendee wish to spend 100 times more? Specific treatment like favorite sitting, valet parking, encourages to VIP features, private restaurant for members only, networking with a high level of men and women, and so forth.

Another friend of mine pays for membership at a private bar within Los Angeles through to Sunset Blvd. For a lot of of the same reasons (but more so, in my opinion, since it impresses his dates ; ).

My advertising mentor Dan Kennedy taught me there is a phase of virtually EVERY customer or client group or industry who will cheerfully spend FAR above standard prices for specific treatment, position, and convenience.

I call it 'state clubbing' your company. Why be the driving range with an constant charge when you are able be the fashionable six-figure membership team across the street? It is possible to provide both naturally, but look at what will skyrocket your company FASTER, with less orders and high quality customers.

I discuss this to not impress you, but to impress upon you that in YOUR industry (yes, *yours*) there's a percentage of people who will gladly pay MORE - much more - for a higher degree of support or treatment.
